Posted May 06, From my observations, UT99 has more people running around than UT However this could be just me and the times I'm visiting. Very cool! My excitement began to fade however, after some servers wouldn't connect, some would connect but fail to load the custom assets, and the ones that did connect worked fine, but there were only bots to be found in them, even though the server browser showed players in the server with bots disabled in the server settings.
I remembered really hating that about UT3. I tried a few more servers, and the results were the same. No humans to be found on any server that would connect. I had an itch to scratch, however, and I was determined to get the job done, so I I really miss it terribly. As one final straw, I decided to check out the abandoned Unreal Tournament that is still on the Epic store for some reason.
That was really awesome - human players are still playing that one, the classic gameplay is still intact, and the graphics looked great, but it only rubbed salt in the wound at the end of the day, because that version of UT will never see the light of day, which is a real shame.

Vanta Aurelius Member. Oct 27, 2, ATL. I've always enjoyed the original UT'99 the most. I recently tried reinstalling to play and there are still servers with people on them, but most servers are filled with Godlike bots.
The humans that still play are beyond elite level too, so it's not as fun. I wish there was a straight up remake of the original UT' Same exact gameplay and mechanics, just updated graphics and sound design. Watevaman Member.
Oct 30, I remember reinstalling the original Red Orchestra a year or two back and trying to find a populated server only to be provided with bots on the few remaining ones left.
It was such a sinking feeling to me because of the time I spent in my high school years playing RO. I remember the regulars on the servers I would play and having such a good time with the tank battles on Arad and sneaking up on Russians in Konigsplatz.
I guess I secretly wanted the carefree feeling I had from back when I was able to play and tune out the world but I think that's all in the past now. Awakened Member. Last I checked, there's still a group that gets together on Friday and Saturday late nights, North American time, to play high speed regular weapons CTF with the Relics mutator. Maybe there's some sort of a UT99 revival going on?
I've gotta get my server browser fixed. I find 10, people hard to believe; I tend to think it's an error.
